I built my first business in my twenties. Then I lost everything.

I grew up on council estates, started a business too young, scaled too fast, and went bankrupt. My wife and I ended up delivering pizzas on mopeds in Hertfordshire just to keep the lights on.

I rebuilt through corporate roles at Shell and Conoco Jet, running operations across 16 European countries. Then I bought a small research consultancy called "him!" with Tom Fender. We grew it into a global business - UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand - advising over 100 of the world's biggest retailers at board level. We sold to William Reed in 2011 for eight figures.
